Porshe GT3: The Ultimate Dual Personality

Speed kills if you can’t turn and to much steroids from what some studies tell us lead to premature heart failure. I apologize in advance for referencing some real diseases but what happens when you have 700 hp riding the curvaceous caverns of the Andes. Well to be short and blunt you have a failure of the seatbelt to withstand the cornering fall of 15.000 plus feet of mountains. So you have all the power but it’s not functional, it just a beauty to look at and may be even good to hear….but enough of the exercise of the body and steriods, onto to the most all-natural vehicles built on the Planet. The Porshe GT3 is a reflection of this perfectly natural specimen, let’s look at what makes it all natural

Exhibit A: Engine. 3.8 L Flat Plane 6 cylinder
Weight: 3152lb
Output: 475 HP 324 TQ
Top Speed: 197 MPH (This is a 200MPH car)

When it hits the pavement with it’s additional redline of 9,000 RPM it can fly to 60 in just over 3 seconds (3.3 seconds claim by porshe).

Exhibit B: All new Dual Clutch Transmission
Output: 7 Speed PDK
Sequential Gearbox with a specially adapted crankshaft and valve train specific to the 3.

In order to handle the amount of force reaching a culmination at 9,000 RPM Porshe uses Titanium Connecting Rods and Forged Pistons. What happens when you merge these things together, gear shifts that are available instantaneously, and paddle shifters that have a closer gap to minimize travel when you’re pressing down like Andretti.

So I just talking about straightline being a zero sum game in the andes mountains yet I kick off the review talking about the engine makes sense right, well save the best is for last hold your breathe. If you have ever driven a 4 wheel vehicle vs a Rear wheel drive vehicle you quickly see the feel and the fun of two wheels turning the back while the AWD appear more organic robotic you know it can make the turn therefore you lose the fun. Well Porshe has a great stable of all wheel drive vehicles but the GT3 is meant for the track so it employs rear wheel drive. Some of the tricks used for AWD are used here such as Active Rear Wheel Steering that steer both wheels in whatever direction you turn , and variable rear diff couple with dynamic engine mounts that are more rigid but fluid for your hard cornering needs.

Is that all that makes miracles lets think again in addtion to the all aluminum chassis the car is aided by a newly designed multi-link rear axle lowered, and sitting on a wider stance than the standard carrera S from the backside (1.7 inches) the GT3 must’ve been eating all the healthy vegetables are mom’s use to tell us when growing up. Popeye has arms and it’s truly showing it. With all that power and turning ability one has to wonder how do I stop this electric eel well larger composite braking discs with a 380mm diameter that are used with the aid of ventilation holes.

What are the numbers 25% percent stiffness equals to almost 1.15g of lateral G.Therefore the perfect specimen can play both aspects of the driving spectrum and really bring the Andes to its knees as long as there is a road of course. Porshe has proven it is at the top of its game when it comes to sports coupe’s the Corvette Z06 comes close to beating this vehicle but suffers in the interior comfort as it is more of a cockpit. The choice is up to you what vehicle would you choose for your dual personality. I guess I am biased being over 6’4 but post your comments below.
