AMG GT R: The Shark for the Benz's hunt away

This is kinda like a rap diss record, I am playing Drake’s BACK TO BACK in the background the Porshe has the GT3 and the come back from Mercedes who is trying to trample the 911 pipeline is the AMG GT R. The GT3 is one heck of a vehicle and attempting to beat down the king of the Track Sports Coupe (Corvette Z06 has some problems with this) is a daunting tasks but one that will take you to new levels. The variances between the two are vast and maybe this should be compared to the turbo but Mercedes mixed things up with the large than life wing the exudes come to the track and show me.

All things aligned it looks like we have quite a battle and Porshe may be bringing a 500 hp powerhouse to the table with the GT3 RS online later this year but let us continue to focus on the here and now. These cars are light powerful and also have the looks to meet the “This is why we remortgaged the house for” statement. When it comes to dual personalities in my opinion Porshe has been a leader in recent years. The 911 Carrera S even though slated as a sports car, has also been able to massage in some GT duties. Many cars are attempting to come to bat in this sector and some may lawd at this lists but despite external and past pre consumption here are the fighters:

Jaguar F Type SVR
Nissan GTR
Chevorlet Corvette Z06
Audi R8 (Base) (Price Points are right there, yes this is potentially a supercar)
Acura NSX (Price Points are right there, yes this is potentially a supercar)
Dodge Viper (In ode to the old school farewell)

The AMG GT R has a lot to look at, and it seems it has come to the game to win and not as a posing imposter happy to stare and congratulate. The variance between the Porshe and Benz are huge the first is the long nose of the benz which lays placement to its 4.0TT V8 thjs front engine vs Porshe’s Mid-Engine Flat 6 cylinder displaces enough power to weight to truly stay up with some of the 1000 Liter CC bikes. Benz is known for the extremely powerful engines and this small vehicle will benefit from this heritage ripping through 60 at 3.6 seconds conservatively. To aid in this process AMG used changes to software and new fly wheel that is lighter than the GT R to build upon upon the immediate feel of speed. The twin turbo’s have an aid in high speeds due to the new efficient intercoolers that add indirect air to water intercooling, shorter charged air ducts further aid to the push gas and go.

The changes to the aerodynamics are functional, they should change the name to Shark the pointed nose wider stance and aerodynamic pieces to reduce lift all play a role in the green shark attacking it’s prey. Some cool features include an invisible to naked eye carbon fiber component that changes the height of the front of the vehicle in Race mode to 40 millimeters to engage better airflow. Feel like turning and worry about the hill this is rear wheel drive but also incorporates the wonderful torque vectoring used by most high end manufacturers that steers the rear wheel , combined with the airflow features optimizing the turning capability. The back end is widened by 57mm, the double wishbone suspension provides increased feel and trackability. In all we really won’t know the final input until the final product is produced. We look forward to putting the AMG GT R vs the GT3 in tests.
