Ford Fusion 2016  -  More Horsepower and New Interior Changing Upward

Ford Fusion Changes: 2016

Does Ford have an identity crisis or are they cashing in on there vehicle success by slowly bleeding out there own company Lincoln out of the midsized car market with there high powered Ford Fusion. So upon its release and much thanks to Jaguar/Aston Martin/Range Rover for its design influence, let’s be serious there is serious influence to the new vehicle stream from the Dearborn based company coming from the English Car manufacturer’s outside of their pickup trucks.

If there was one complaint for all Ford based sedans including Lincoln was leaving itself out of the HP wars. They had great engines (TT V6 Ecoboost, and 5.0 Liter V8) that they could’ve thrown in when the market was salivating but decided not to go that route and stick to a design/functionality route. This year due to the redesigns of other midsize firecrackers such as the Mazda6 and Hyundai Sonata they are holding no holds bar approach with the release of a high powered Fusion So you ask whats a power bump 10 Hp and 20 ft lb of torque not exactly. Check out these statistics fro the new Ford Fusion:

First off in my humble opinion just add the SHO monikor to all performance variants but Ford has gone another route and name this vehicle Sport, which could mean there is another peakn horsepower version that could be coming into the fold.

Back to the stats the Ford Fusion will have:

Thats right a Ford Fusion will have over 300hp and its suppose to compete against the midsized sedans. There is a big issue however this car in Ford’s advertisment has ambitions against a 3 series. Is Ford sneakily trying to get Ford up market as the sporty brand of the division leaving Lincoln to an older school luxury variant. I don’t know what the play is but I am happy for the performance boost found in these new car variants. Not to leave it all to performance but I am adding the additional changes found in the Fusion line up which includes a more dolled up car as well a better performing hybrid.: I grabbed the links straight from the Lincoln website:

“Fusion offers people a lot more car – including helpful technology, beautiful design and a more rewarding driving experience than other midsize sedans,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president and chief technical officer, Global Product Development.
Fusion V6 Sport: Fusion V6 Sport is a performance sedan unlike anything in the segment with a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost®V6 delivering a projected 325 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. All-wheel-drive Fusion V6 Sport is projected to make approximately 100 lb.-ft. of additional torque and nearly 50 more horsepower than the 3.5-liter V6 engines in Toyota Camry and Honda Accord
Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi: New Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi lead America’s best-selling lineup of plug-in hybrids. New software in both hybrids delivers an even more refined and engaging drive for customers, while more efficient electric motors are expected to contribute to better fuel economy and a purer range of electric driving
Fusion Platinum: Fusion Platinum is designed for those seeking even greater levels of refinement and craftsmanship in a midsize sedan. With available award-winning 2.0-liter EcoBoost and all-wheel drive, the real story is the interior experience. Instrument and door trim panels are wrapped in antiqued Cocoa leather, and the hand-wrapped steering wheel is finished in premium Venetian leather. A unique grille finished in Magnetic paint makes for an upscale design and 19-inch polished wheels return confident performance
Together, Fusion V6 Sport, Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi, and Fusion Platinum offer three different flavors of an award-winning lineup for midsize sedan customers.”

This is a good year to be in the business of looking for a new automobile.
