Lincoln Continental Concept 2017: Escalade I'm Here

Wowwwww… you look very familiar, well the relationship between Jaguar and Lincoln in the early 2000’s has paid quite a dividend for the design and engine portion of each company. Ford new designs vehicles are outstanding starting with the new Fusion, not saying Ford didn’t know how to design before but it feels like they took a little bit of england engineering with them when they had to depart with Jaguar who ended up at Indian Automaker Tata. So it’s no wonder that the latest release of the Lincoln Navigator concept has a lot of Range Rover HSE/Jaguar with an american flair. Before we get into angst over what same may call a blatant copy cat, let’s look at the new head of design at Lincoln, GERRY McGovern. If that name does not ring bells it will now, he was part of the 4th generation Range Rover redesign and a long time design lead at Jaguar/Range Rover. So with that being said the back end from a side view is reminiscent of the Range and we have to all say that is a good thing. Let’s get into what we will see since Lincoln no longer releases concepts that they won’t build well at least I am hope I am brainwashing them into thinking this.

America or Merica as I call it is building up the big three once again and I hate to compare but right now the way things are lining up BMW is Caddie, than Lincoln is planning on being Mercedes, Chrysler well we don’t know yet but we’re missing an Audi… Lincolns focus is not on the drag racing, twist turning fans such as me. There a back to tradition in a movement they call “Quiet luxury vehicles and experiences that are elegant effortless powerful and serene”. Remember the joke what are you building a boat, well linking is trying to it is the yacht experience that they are gravitating to.

The award winning 3.5 twin turbo goes to work again and speculation is it will deliver 400+ hp. I expect a hybrid to come boasting a combined 450hp to 510hp or start sharing with Jag again and go pick up the 5.0 (why not). When it comes to driver safety Lincoln will be following the rest of the pack with the normal features we should expect collision assist, 360 degree camera, lane keeping assist, passengers now have wifi capability, all connected through a large panel screen that will display key information.
