When GM roles out vehicles there is usually tiers and engine hp & tq are detuned to meet the requirements of the heirarchy. Lately Chevy due to the high level of competition in all industries from there midsized (Cruze, Malibu) to their entry level luxury vehicles (Impala) have attempted to buck the establishment. Chevy no offense to the masses and the generalities that I have been exposed to has been the brand of Trucks. There was always a couple of animals that made it out of the pack into a sporty division the two players were the Camaro and the Corvette.

The two sexy outcasts were known for there cheap and fast straight line moniker. The interiors always left you with I need something more but once started the LS, LT engines provided a blast on a freeway and easily tunable properties in the aftermarket. Something changed for the better after the transformers movie, before that Chevy was still making a push to the opposite spectrum. In attempt to being a market leader for the middle class buyer Chevy introduced the Camaro. The vehicle was awe inspiring the design futuristic with really no deviation from the concept. The car was straight out of the comic books and struck gold in the market place. The cross shoppers were vast you had players from even Porshe dare I say taking a peak down at the brand. The gift of chevy was that it was still priced relatively well, but the performance, and materials were all upped. So with the release of the Alpha platform (ATS-V platform) Chevy has improved upon there straightline performance they have moved from a straightline burner to a carver plus straightliner burner. The so what is what they decided to do with the latest introducion of the ZL1. Remember the hiearchy things I talked about way up there, well thats out the door how does

640 hp 640 lb tq sound to you. You lose only 10 hp and tq from the Z06 corvette and gain 10 lb tq on the CTS V. Yes it’s the LT4. There is one minor change, well major remember the 8 speed that was suppose to switch gears like a Dual Clutch and it kinda did when you reached speed. Well form the sounds of what Chevy is introducing here the 10 speed is a game changer and it definitely sounds as quick as a DCT.

High Stability Captured:
  • Bigger and Lower Grille
  • New Hood Carbon Fiber
  • Heat Extractor to pull all that hot air at 202 mph
Faster:
  • 200lb less weight
  • More Hp and Power 60 hp and 80 lb in
  • 285 hp and 305 hp in the back

I think we can say that Chevy is back with a bang. To all the Ford GT350 fans, doesn’t look like the race will be close but you know how the back and forth goes. On an interesting note what does this do for the Corvette is Chevy putting the camaro ZL1 in a new arena would you cross shop this GT vs lets say a BMW M6 just for kicks and your comments.
