2020 Toyota Supra makes its return: Should it have even returned???

As the Detroit show rolls in starting date, we start to see the lay of the land on new concepts as well as new releases. One that has taken as long as the NSX from Acura that a lot of folks were hoping would jump in the fray of large sports coupes was Toyota's Supra. Toyota due to R&D costs and the CUV craze didn't want to put out a full budget to reveal there old superstar of a sports car the icon of boy racers around the U.S.A along with the GTR. The Toyota Supra tuned could keep up with the likes of your supercars and makes for a lot of fun around tracks or your local highways. Here goes the problem with this latest release the supercar look is still there but the size and competition have me thinking this is more of a Mazda Miata competitor with similar proportions to an already ok boy racer in the Toyota BRZ at least it has the appearance of so why didn't Toyota just make a lighter Lexux RCF or Lexus LC, I guess maybe because they are releasing the LC F in 2022 allegedly. Before I start talking let's look at the spec's, the car heavily based on the BMW Z4 shares much of the platform's features and oddly familiar interior than again that is what partnerships are for.

"This Boy Racer is disapppointed" well at least just with the look:

21 years of waiting and this is what we have:

- 335 HP / 365 lb of Tq / 3,397 lb
- 8 Speed Transmission / 3.0 Turbocharged 6 Cylinder / RWD
- 4.1 Second 0-60 - Top Speed 155 MPH
- 50/50 weight distribution - Double-joint spring strut / Multilink Rear suspension

What was offered in 1998
- 320 Hp / 315 lb of Tq / 3,500 lb
- 6 Speed Manual / 3.0L Naturally aspirated 6 Cylinder / RWD
- 4.6 Sec. 0-60 - Top Speed 160 MPH
- OK THEY GOT ME ON THE SUSPENSION STUFF

So 21 years later I wanted at least 450HP / AWD / 7 Speed Dual Clutch and let's get to the size

2020 New One Length: 172 Inches
1998 Old One: 178 Inches
BRZ length: 168 Inches ?????

Toyota help me understand why is this a BRZ competitor... once again its probably all gone to Lexus I get it, but hopefully the boy racers will understand. Let's face the facts this will be a track burner you can tell by the tech and the advanced suspension add-ons. What's next for the GTR competitor oops Nissan is no longer in the question for this vehicle whats in the fold for the Miata competitor some great track runs but a car that maybe not punching as hard as it needs to, how did it step back from middleweight to lightweight. Let's see the track times to shut me up. Enjoy the latest Toyota Supra ... which doesn't match 1998 but is a replica if its ultimate beginnings of the 1967 2000 GT.

Starting $49,554 this may be the selling point.
