After the Cayenne, came this gorgeous monstrosity from the Bangle haven of Munich, Germany a box in those days that's when being straightforward and muscle was beneficial you know when baseball and steroids were reaching a climax in the early 2000's. Those were days Range Rover and BMW had a unbenounced partnership with Range Rover's the rugged militant sand dune truck you could buy off the shelf. Then came the rounded sporty cayenne, and here cometh the beginning of a decade of more feminity and sexy to the less macho if you get my drift. Here goes the issue BMW did this quite well actually without a doubt in my mind it was always within the range of the top 3 best looking SUV's. Things have changed and for some, the design flatters but shoulders have been gained, a bigger more pronounced grille, but a little angular rounded has stepped in the scene.

Reminiscent of a lot of CUV, and SUV's the BMW holds no grudges, it just knows where the money is at and sad to say for folks like me the possible once a year off road guy and the person that likes brawn over eye pleasing has lost the battle. I mean really who drives the X5, soccer moms, and anyone in South Carolina. That realization of its use case may solidify the reason for the most curvaceous truck in BMW history aside from the X3. BMW's concept here is to look smaller than it really is and they have succeeded, wider, longer, taller, and lower this BMW offers an aggressive assortment up front included with laser lights. The Kidney staple for the BMW front end is now optimized, the modern take on family aggressiveness drives up the rear flank creating a more compact look when its really bigger in every way compared to the previous model. The rear end of the vehicle leaves the heart a little cold, a little to Audi, and a bit Japanese. There is nothing wrong with those things except if your BMW the market leader and style maker. In all a good attempt, however for Moir, I prefer the previous model but nothing beats accessories and a mid-cycle refresh.

Taking the beating stick from Mercedes Benz,  the interior needed help and aside from Cadillac Escalade, Range Rover Velar this is the best incorporation of the large truck nice interior that I've seen. BMW doesn't spare you any imagination, I've now decided that like Porshe this is more of the evolutionary brand... hell even honda take's more risk look at this year's Accord compared to the last. This all changed when the controversial departure of Chris Bangle the man that usher in, BMW will do this differently left a salty taste in the minds of some of the loyalists however through the years we can see how that legendary effort if continued may have led BMW to be ahead of teh ball game and maybe pushing through the curve instead of waiting to see what's around the corner.

The family-focused dare I say CUV now has all the amenities that would make soccer Mom's proud how about a two-section tailgate that's hands-free for both upper and lower appenditures (Good luck to those actuators). How about a luggage compartment cover that will close itself.  Third-row seating for someone who does gymnastics and the addition of heated and cooled cupholders.

Don't fret to the surprise of many there were some that thought that the Beemer had no off-road capability with the additions of the Off-Road Package put the assumptions to rest accompanied with this opportunity is a rugged underbody protection two axle rear suspension, and height settings prepping itself for any endurance tests through Sand, Rock, Gravel, and Snow. In all, as technology improves so does the car and there is no shortage of opportunities that BMW missed with this model
Enjoy the new X5 series hopefully this isn't a 3 and done model.
