Rolls Royce Culligan: Everybody is in now!!

I mean how many back to back articles must we do on these luxury SUVs. Since Ford announced there ousting of anything that doesn't sit 6 inches higher than the curb we've seen the additional positioning of large and small niche manufacturers to push there product offerings to the CUV/SUV world. Some of the surprises come in the form of a Bentley, Lamborghini, & an Alfa Romeo ... but in part of the redundancy, I guess everyone is getting the point. Now in a million years........

Welcome the most unlikely candidate for an SUV the Rolls Royce Culligan, Folks there you have it question marks excluded. Let's step back some more and give the histoire between British Luxury makers and German Auto's. There has been a constant back and forth of sharing some of the design here for some of the mechanical engineering over there. In all, it's been great but let's look at a few so you can see what I am getting at.....

How much does it cost to develop an SUV from SCRATCH:
- Factor in the inception design, teams, manufacturing a line to build and Qualification unit: Average this to about 2.5 billion (OUCH !!)

So the one statement that needs no additional commentary perfectly illustrates the aforementioned need to conglomerate. When your Numerator of development is higher than your total denominator in revenue watch yourself so they do and things start to happen like this first partnership that I can remember

Range Rover-Jaguar/BMW: 90's through the 2000's was sold off to FORD in the early 2000's
Bentley/VW: This also happened in the late 90's, if you didn't know Bentley and Rolls Royce use to be the same company
Aston Martin/Diamler: Mid 2000's - The new Vantage has the acclaimed 4.0L TT V8
Mclaren/Mercedes: This is a quietest kept outside of the UK, yes Benz provided engines to Mclaren
MINI/BMW: How sweet of a deal was this for the Beemer group.

So wait for this last one as it can't get any better Rolls Royce BMW yes if you didn't know these two were partners and once disbanded from Bentley BMW held on to its stake in the English Luxury car maker to keep up with the guy who tells the JONESES what to do. BMW has not really kept up when it comes to big SUV's matter fact the relationship with Land Rover which ended in the 2000's should've continued but there would be a lot of politics due to the co-existing conflicts of interests Jaguar vs BMW but I really do think that would've worked as VW has several of these problems.

So BMW is developing a big SUV to compete with the GL, Escalade, and Q7's of the world. One problem Bentley has a Bentyaga and BMW is not a competitor to Bentley but who is ... See where I am going here, like VW the Bentyaga is based largely on the architecture of the Q7 or some may argue the reverse, either way, the upcoming X7 is here ... just in a much more luxurious form and a different nameplate.

Rolls Royce Culligan:
Yes, it took me an hour to get to this but here it is in the flesh. The vehicle is colossal, talk about go big or go home.
Key points:
  • It's a real SUV, that means capable of going off-road
  • All the automated concierge services lend itself to this vehicle
    • Vehicle lowers 40mm upon entry
    • Electronic folding seats
    • Refrigerator, Drinking Cabinet in some trims
    • Appropriated Umbrella in door sill
  • Legit three-row vehicle
  • 6.75L V12 TT
  • Air Suspension (go through the earthquake without knowing there is an earthquake)
  • Climate Control
    • Your luggage can have a different level of weather depending on how you set it
Ahh Rolls Royce when you think a Bentley is just enough, welcome to the party.... Ferrari are you really up next.
