Aston Martin Superleggra: The DBS returns with some Italian Flair

DBS sounds familiar but Super Leggera sounds like something out of the Ferrari Bin. The Aston Martin is a pure English brand but at times there can be a taste of Italy for everyone especially when you figure out the meaning. Superleggera in English terms stands for super light and for a model replacing the Naturally Aspirated powerhouse Vanquish there is no better introduction to a GT Coupe with cruel intentions.

So who makes the best GT coupe's in the business, well the competition for this coupe is clear if they deny it then Bigfoot is alive and well. Ferrari released the 812 Super Fast a modern take of an Italian muscle car meaning big engine up front with a small rear end. Space and big power to the tune of over 789 HP and 530 LB TQ that is channelled through a naturally aspirated 6.5L V12. Aston is known for the naturally aspirated however changes to the climate in the face of EPA regulations have caused the twin turbos to enter the bonnet of the Superleggera, an English slap to the 812 with the Superleggra term.

Specs:
715 HP / 663 LB FT
0-60: 3.4 Seconds
Max Speed: 211 MPH
V12 5.2L 48 Valve Engine

The Design a bit too much like the DB11 but is that really a bad thing, I certainly don't think so. The power output matches the outside look, the big bold Aston Martin Grille, sculpted flanks that plays the effect like an oiled bodybuilder. The air vents all functional, the front splitter and air dam compete to make airflow a fluid activity at high speeds, the latest technology innovation Curlicue and Aeroblade the purpose more reason for this car to be a 200 mph addition to the Aston Martin Brigade. The car bolsters shoulders that Conan the Barberian would be proud of, made of lightweight carbon composite the car is lighter than its cheaper sibling the DB11.

8 Speed don't hate speed beefed up to the latest ZF iteration, set low to the ground the car gives you the stability especially with the ornaments pushing you down at a 250+ lb of force at VMAX. 211 MPH with the lower final drive, in sports plus, will get you there. The Front wheels pushing 265's the back end which will go nowhere if you floor it 305's. To impose not just a straight line affect Ason has added Double Wishbone to the front with rear multi-link to the backside once again highlighting "The Fugo" in the Aston Martin product line.

Let's not talk the electronics everyone knows Aston Martin has its trouble with the technology there always behind but a Mercedes partnership has changed the game. There no longer behind but ahead, if 4 Wheel drive comes and Aston Martin takes the challenge of building a 4 door coupe I think that Aston Martin has the making of a mass sales brand. Does Aston want to do this, they certainly have the design language and now the partnerships to make a statement. This Superleggera the enterprise stamp to any of the Italians, Heyaa Ferrari, Lambo, we are still sexy too.. Addio
