Wagon Fire all about CUV's ......or so we think - AUDI RS4 with backside

admin   Sat, 20 Jan 2018  MACHEENE | Report Abuse WAGON RS4 AUDI:

Let's repeat that entry RS4, AUDI... Something special is cooking up, Audi has always been the Red-Headed stepchild of the 3 German Brands BMW, and BENZ. The car I remember for its one speciality "repair high costs" has made a big change in the mid-2000's its image revitalized by the Luxo Barge A8 which came to market as a new contender to the 7 series. This change in mindset for design played big dividends I'm not saying the Audi is ugly but it is a car in the late 90's that was just there. So what had happened is.... all competitors started to get the Toyota feeling, see bad quality unless you have a Lambo can cause you tremendous brand image issues. The change to a more Quality focused brand, has changed the red-headed stepchild mantra and elevated Audi to a competitor in the German wars.

How does Audi differ from the three brands to put it lightly without adding too much biased, Audi's main attractor is the sophisticated crowd, the Clark Kent type if you want to be frank. The middle brand that has some sportiness to compete with beemers and some sophistication in some minds more sophistication than Benz the middle is sometimes the better ground to hold.

So Mr. Clark Kent can sometimes turn into Superman, how is that due to the bad guys introducing some effective blows to the industry in the realm of power I am talking Benz AMG, and BMW M power. Rennsport which translates to Racing Sport is the acronym for RS which is the sports model.  This is Audi's gameplay to counteract the big-engined beast from Germany. So now we move into the wagon, finally the wagon that I was talking about uptop. The Audi RS4 Wagon is Audi's lowest entry point into the go fast mobile's but this one add's package space. What does that mean from a performance perspective

2.9 V6 TT
450 HP and 442 lb (add 10-15% for German vehicles)
0-60: 4.1 seconds
1/4 mile: 12.1 114 mph
Top Speed: 155 mph limited - Dynamic package: 174 mph
Power availability: 1900 RPM Turbo's spooled and ready to rocket

Those numbers put it on par or better than the 2013 M5, as you know these smaller engine packages are raining in on the big block parades this Audi 2.9 TT V6 may be the winner for the V6's using its power to also cause nauseousness in the Audi S5. This is a dual personality car and I can say from my recent test drives that most of the top speed manufacturers have been able to introduce this balanced character for all of there product lines. Same ol story here in the interior, though lower budget than an S7 or S8 this car is top of the bucket when we are talking about entry level sports sedans/wagons.

Splitting why this model makes it a better event, pretty straightforward its the backside that counts, and luggage room is increased though that doesn't say much for seating capacity. Still on those family/ friends/dog trips when the journey requires a pair of rear folding seats to sleep in, or that piece of drywall that jacks up your rooftops this Audi has room to spare and gives you something to think about. If it's my vote or my cash no doubt the Audi wagons would be first on the list. Don't call it a come back but I think we will see the return of the avant in the next few years.
