Project One: Mercedes doesn't want anyone to rest

admin   Thu, 14 Sep 2017  MACHEENE | Report Abuse Project One: Mercedes doesn't want anyone to rest

We have mentioned this all over the place Mercedes Benz is a game changer, they have moved up the luxury market and improved upon the sportiness to compete against arch rival BMW. The interiors now are something out of a futuristic movie, yes they took a stand and brought it market. They have always been known for their AMG products that "Hammered" down the road, but now we take a look at the Hammer with a sharp edge to make cuts. The Hypercar world take notice matter fact F1 cars take notice Mercedes Project One has been unveiled.

What we know:
  • 1000 HP  Plug in Hybrid / 350KM or over top speed (Advise this is a track car)
  • 1.6 Liter V6 with 4 electric motors
  • 11,000 RPM !!!!!!! (Bikes are in trouble) on the engine
  • 50,000 RPM's on the Electric Motors surprised (Emoji's couldn't do that number justice)
  • Electric Turbo Charger (will talk about this next)

If anyone has driven a turbo engine vs Naturally Aspirated engine they know the lag is a real thing and difficult for automakers to overcome. Until now the technology that will drive down from this evolution of an Electric Turbo Charger.

MGU-H (Motor Generator Unit Heat) Technology:
The exhaust gas and compressor turbines are separated from one another and located at an optimum position to the exhaust side and to the intake side of the V6 engine and connected to one another by a shaft. This shaft features an electric motor with approximately 90 kW which, depending on the operating status, electrically drives the compressor turbine with up to 100,000 rpm

MGU-K (Motor Generator Unit Kinetic) Technology:
Motor produces 120 kW, has been installed directly on the engine and features a link to the crankshaft via a spur gear

With all this as a just an intro, I am scared to see the actual result...which will cost in upwards of 2.7 million dollars.

If you want a taste of these Hybrid mixes look no further than the following

Aston Martin Valkeyrie
Jaguar CX75
Mclaren P1
Porshe 918
Koesnigg Agera
