Safety, safety, and more safety Volvo the face of suburban Mom's, and grandparents alike never was known for the Svelt luxury sports sedan stance of the Porshe Macan, nor the mature but inconspicuous versatility of the Audi Q5 the Volvo walks along lines that fall in the game but don't really announce itself as a true leading competitor in the market segment which includes on top of the Porshe, and Audi, the BMW X3, the Cadillac XT5, Benz GLE, and the Lexus RX...to add more fuel to the fire Jaguar is thinking of releasing a smaller F-Pace variant and the Lincoln MKX is still looking for a way to enter.

So Volvo can't only rely on the safety net of having the children in the back playing with their tablets as the forefront of desires for their cars as everybody has improved their safety. The X60 not ugly but not dominant needed a change and with the great success of the XC90 there is no wonder why the new entry strategy is more annunciated and less warm blanket with milk. I introduce you to the XC Vacker swedish term for beautiful

The X60 is now in the hunt and in my opinion second to the Macan in the style category. This is where I will focus to start as this is the 1st big change the design, Volvo calls it athletic, I call it MAC make up the CUV was bare before but now after it's athletic work out it moves into tidying up the nails and resculpting the face. European cars have a pension for designing cars that stand the test of time, in real terms the skin doesn't crack through the years and remains elegant. This builds upon that as other brands start to build out spaceships Volvo remains conservative and the results are something that draws me in more than outlandish pieces we have been seeing from Lexus though it's growing on me.

The 2nd is the power train, Volvo has been behind the times when it comes to power output but has finally made the cross over to sporty with the 400HP T8 platform. Yes in this day and age a Volvo truck needs to have 400HP to keep up with the market. This is not your usual V8 engine Twin turbo engine, this the hybrid platform

How it happens (407 HP)  5.3 Seconds 0-60:
1.5 Liter Turbo Charged 3 cylinder (always odd cylinders from Volvo)
2 electric motors, 1 in the engine and transmission, the other on the rear axle

Interior, I have said it before Ikea makes a lot of things look good at low costs, that is now getting higher. Think of this interior as an Ikea without any thought to budget, the dials make sense, the screen clear big and easy to navigate, the appointments thought of, and I will leave it at that it looks like they really "Thought of" which makes the cabin a beautiful place to be.

Along with the new look is the wine along with this beautiful steak, additional safety measures include
  • Steer Assist called Oncoming Lane Mitigation -  helps steer automatically when incoming collisions are coming
  • BLIS - Blind Spot Indication System - helps steer or not steer cars in lane changes

Ahh a breath of fresh air in the market and at $42K it's a no brainer.
