As long as there 4.4 Twin Turbo V8 I'm Good: The M5 Breaks Cover

Despite all the talk of the E63 AMG-S, the Porshe Panamera Turbo, though it's not in the same category. We have to not forget the King of the high-performance marketplace it's still around though the redesign was a little bit of let down (in all black its stunning) so what does the 4.4L bring to the table now that Benz and Porshe are taking big swings at the head...... Well, BMW's Rear wheel drive, hold on it says X Drive M...Ok so this dual clutch 7, ooops it says 8 Speed Transmission....So this redesigned what are we getting into here.

The changes are plenty on the outside we can see the M will have the aggressive flares found on the M3 but a bit more subtle. The car is packing a couple of things that should make the competition scurry and have the winter months States have something to play with.  See Audi really set the market on fire, their base level S6 was in a comparo with the BMW M5 F10 an E63 AMG and kept up the reason being the Audi a 4 wheel drive based car put the power to the floor with all 4 wheels, this is not even the top level version RS7. Mercedes being an immediate predatory fighter came back with the AMG S 4 wheel drive moniker to stay afloat and now has matched the RS7 in pace with its latest release the E63 AMG S. The problem BMW had a tough dilemma RWD vehicles give you this feeling, this control in the turns the ability to have the tail wag essentially making the car gain dance moves....BMW is known to create the perfect dance choreography in the industry even though the F10 was fat it still played to the BMW soul when all the M buttons were turned on.

So much for traditionalism Mercedes hit first so BMW must keep up...well the trick of the year is no longer lower displacement boosted v8 engines getting to supercar levels...oh noo it is now how many personalities can a car play in one setting. So what's the new precedent something that has been there with trucks for years upon years the opportunity to move your 4 wheel drive to rear drive at a click of a button. Yes, the new Beamer is two souls in one, no chauvinism here it's like having a Playboy model and your Victoria Secret model under one roof. Not only offering an array of drive characteristics (the E63 AMG S is as well) they have these different modes with the X drive modes to give you extra Maxim Models, and Vogue. What makes the magic happen is the Central Intelligence Unit the brain like your computer that makes the 4 wheel drive feel rendered obsolete with a click of a button.

The set up remains the same two M buttons on the steering wheel.. hit it and you're optimized to full capacity. The apparent letdown but it hasn't been driven yet is the 8 Speed transmission more durable for sure but the dual clutch made magic happen at high speeds. The Steptronic has yet to be tested and may surprise but there not making any claims ala Cadillac of a faster shift than a Porshe PDK as we know if that was the case the Corvette with its power would destroy a Turbo S which is not the case from any speed according to my observation.

So there a lot of unknowns at this point the Beemer once again comes in well prepared for the war, it's still heavy but will all wheel drive do the trick can this bring back the comfort of the F10, the engine of the E60, and the agility of the E39 only time will tell but we know this will be the fastest 4 door in it's history.
