Where Korean's Merge with Germany: Kia Stinger

What are you talking about, Koreans are Koreans technically yes they are but the recent hirings have folks thinking about Korea's Genesis/Hyundai becoming a Union with Germany. It's been a strong climb for the Northeast Asian's the culmination of awareness and the willingness to compete are two things that make a strong up and comer separate itself from the pack. So as some companies face extinction there are others that refuse to let the big meteorite take them away for their bones to rest.

What have they done, they've hired and I mean bought a whole nest of talent from the Kremlin. How do you start to edge up near Lexus..or I'll just say it near Audi
  • Step 1 Design - Peter Shreyer, Christopher Chapman, Luc Donckerwolke (Designed the Audi TT)
  • Step 2 Engine - Albert Biermann (Engine head for the M Divisions)

So Hold Up Wait a Minute " Props to Dougie Fresh" (New York DJ) who put things in perspective for us, I can get German engineering, new Hyundai quality, and a low cost forgive me I must listen at least. To all the brand snobs, I am one of those to a certain degree, let's re-educate our Amygdala to understand what has happened and has happened for all high-level societies, essentially they have taken the best from all cultures and merged them into one to attempt to create the omniscient (Credit the Greeks and Romans). So to date, the entry point should be CUV/SUV but the hard focused BMW team is focused on things outside of the efficient people mover and going for Munich - BMW 340i or for some Stuttgart - Benz C-400. So you need a name to begin to strike a hit to the hornet's nest. Muhammed Ali coined it, so why not sting'em

The Stinger:
So this article was sponsored by Hyundai - oops that is a lie, after the long rant I am going to make the specifications a lot easier to ascertain.

Kia has yet to modify the beautiful 5.0-liter Tau engine to do sports car work with the use of Turbo's which I think they should. The car will, however, be primarily focused on aesthetics and dynamic capability. The design, you see they hired three Germans for that department has the haunches that speak a bit of Jaguar, the track stance low and wide glaring down like a fighter jet more so than bubble bee. The shoulders which lead up to the beautifully sculpted head leave no doubt that Kia is looking to make contact with BMW more so than Mercedes. The strategy is epic, create the same dynamic in Korea underneath the same brand Hyundai to be Benz, and Kia to be BMW.  To add to the new design pleasure is the quad pipes that tell you this is not the Optima on steroids.  The coupe-like architecture so prominent in all sedans and the gills of sharks with the air vents that tell there maybe an engine inside The Stinger looks to be Venezuelan model in the middle of Moscow.

Float like a butterfly Sting like a bee:  To say AWD, Rear Drive platform, is weird for a front-drive entry market company. See Hyundai made the move that Ford and Audi have not they made a change to improve its marketplace standing in their luxury brands. They are making changes to stay in the game as the competition continues to rise and the ease of production has just been made easier with battery power.  The last frontier left is the drivability aka making it a Drivers car. This chassis is the first entry and word in the street it's coming in midpack without even a blink of the eye. The powertrain the 3.3L Turbo pushing out 360 hp,  I have no idea why Hyundai just doesn't make this vehicle a 400 to 450 HP car but I guess there following the enclave of small steps rather than swinging large bats. 376 lb torque available at 1,300 RPM's should give it a 0-60 of 4.9 -5.1 seconds, top speed limited to 175 mph though Kia's aim is 167 mph..all this driven through the standard 8-speed transmission. Rigidity comes into focus with 55% high strength steel (it will turn) and the MacPherson multilink rear provides an ode to El Cadillac which means it has some V-Sport aspirations the turning makes it claims with 225 fronts/255 rears. Dynamic Damping enables for different levels of driver feel spread out through 5 personalized modes.  Make no mistake Kia is not calling this the ATS-V competitor there calling it the grand coupe and they are taking a line from the second gen CTS V. Using a cheap price and larger car to compete against the market segment for value.

Let the experiment begin Brand Snobs beware Kia has come to play we welcome the Stinger. Expected price point under 50K$. Be advised this is a luxury sports car.
