NIO EP9 The Great Wall creates a Tesla Beater

China has grown to a new superpower, and with wealth comes creation. The war of the EV superpowers has begun and Chinese startup NIO has made something "F?icháng kuài" which is simplified Chinese for "Very Fast".  So we have the P100 from Tesla a 2.5 second 0-60, the One concept out of Croatia under 3-second car, and now this from the Great Wall the Nio EP9 2.7 second 0-60 time. So what are the dumplings and Chow Mein made of (did I say I Love Chinese Food)

• Carbon Monocoque Chassis 
• Active suspension / 4-way adjustable dampers 
• 3G of lateral grip 
• Adjustable front splitter 
• 4 Individual gear boxes for each wheel 

The thing about all these EV's or the biggest problem was the batteries weight and its ability to handle a corner. Now Tesla has done well with what it has but now we have a full EV, not a hybrid sports car that has beaten the Nurburgring record for EV's with a 7:05.12 time. If you don't know what the Nurburgring is it happens to be known as one of the greatest technical road courses in the world and used by many Auto Manufacturers for testing of handling, cornering techniques.  For some perspective what has it beaten on the course times: 


The other significant changes that make this EV special is turning around time to drive "F?icháng kuài", so you speed for the whole day and reach your top speed of 313 KM and your power runs out (that's right no more gas). This car can turn you back around in 45 min.  the best thing about these newer electric cars they will not suffer from the same overheat conditions of let's say, Tesla, if you push it hard through a road course. This car is meant to do laps and proven by one of the most difficult road courses in the world is at the top of the game. 





TSee this car was an expose of what NIO founded by Wiilliam Li's vision for the world of EV's, one that can support the family demographic as well as quench the thirst of the car enthusiasts. This was an exercise to show the world NIO is here and though this article is short, It has made quite a strong statement to the EV Industry. We look forward to see what new cars will come from the NIO Brand, and hope to get a press car soon to actually feel the driving experience.
