The 10 Most Talked-About Celebrity Vacation Outfits of Summer 2023, Period

Anna LaPlaca  Wed, 28 Jun 2023  Who What Wear

It’s not hyperbolic to say that the world and the past year and a half at large have felt cumbersome as we’ve continued to grapple with a global pandemic. In the wake of this moment, one could wonder how fashion is even relevant. I’d say that fashion is, in its purest form, escapism. Something as small as the Hot Girl Summer style aesthetic or cruising the internet for revenge shopping picks can give us a sense of sanity or a pinch of joy in this time of mass uncertainty. And while there’s no telling when or if things will ever return to “normal,” the vaccination rollout has been a glimmer of hope that one day we will hop on a plane again.

Until then, I’ve taken the liberty of rounding up the 10 best celebrity vacation outfits by destination type to get you dreaming. You may not be able to get on a plane heading to the other side of the world just yet, but seeing Normani on a yacht or planning your signature travel pieces in anticipation is a great way to get your wanderlust fix (for now).

On Sofia Richie Grainge: Magda Butrym top; Christopher Esber pants; Loro Piana bagl The Row sandals. No, it's not an exaggeration to say that this singular outfit Sofia Richie Grainge wore on her honeymoon is defining an entire aesthetic movement for summer 2023. While we've written exhaustively on her entire wedding wardrobe, it's the simplicity of her all-white beach ensemble that has us in an absolute grip. Her floral appliqué top hits on one of the summer's top trends while the relaxed trousers bring some polish. It's simple but extremely chic.

On Kendall Jenner: Ami Paris dress; Tropic of C Equator Top and Praia Bottom; Bottega Veneta Arco Basket Bag; Gentle Monster sunglasses. Leave it to Kendall Jenner make a deceivingly simple beach outfit the topic of so much conversation. While on a trip to the south of France, she layered a sheer maxi dress over a barely-there bikini and finished it all off with summer's top bag trend, a massively oversized raffia tote. Normally a see-through dress like Jenner's would feel like a risqué fashion choice, but her sleek floor-length one from Ami Paris is oddly chic.

On Kylie Jenner: Alaïa dress; Loewe heels; The Row bag; Tom Wood earrings. Everyone on the internet is talking about Kylie Jenner's style transformation—especially us. It's hard not to see how she's pivoted from the bodycon dresses that used to be her signature to an aesthetic that's much more refined and elegant and nothing epitomizes her new style era more than the halter neck Alaïa dress she wore while on vacation last month. Paired with simple Loewe sandals and The Row Margaux Tote, Jenner is branding herself as the unlikely poster girl for the quiet-luxury aesthetic, and we have to say, we're not mad at all about it.

On Laura Harrier: Reformation top and skirt. Laura Harrier continues to deliver with her commitment to '90s minimalism and clearly, that extends to her vacation style, too. While traveling through Tuscany, the actress embraced the clean lines of a black tube top and low-rise silk skirt and topped it off with a corded pendant necklace, a rising summer micro-trend we're starting to see more of.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is, and always will be, a fan of the classics. In fact, her vacation wardrobe has included so much swimwear from Hunza G over the years that she's teamed up with the brand to deliver a collection of suits in collaboration with her beauty brand Rose Inc. and the range of soft neutrals is pretty much our idea of a perfect vacation capsule.

On Hailey Bieber: Ami Paris top; EB Denim mini skirt; Miu Miu belt. We'll be the first to admit that Hailey Bieber's style wields a strong influence over us. After seeing her on a boat in Cannes, we suddenly felt the need to go shopping for two trends we thought we were done with. Her outfit was pretty simple but featured an off-the-shoulder crop top and cutoff denim mini skirt, two items that haven't been part of our summer wardrobe in many years. But leave it to Bieber to make us question everything we thought we knew.

When it comes to vacation style, nobody turns it out quite like Dua Lipa. We'd love to peer inside her suitcase because each one of her vacation outfits is more iconic than the last, with head-to-toe ensembles complete with coordinating accessories. While on a trip to Jamaica this year, she once again delivered with a three-piece Jacquemus shorts set in the zestiest shade of tangerine. Us? Speechless.

While in Cannes attending the film festival, Elsa Hosk modeled a show-stopping dress from her namesake brand, Helsa Studio, complete with a plunging neckline and delightful rosette detail at the waist. The setting, the dress, and stacks of bangles she paired it with, it's all just *chef's kiss*.

Alexa Chung frolicking through a garden in a printed dress that mirrors her floral surroundings is not something we thought we'd be putting on our summer mood board, and yet here we are.

Not everyone pulls up the ancient ruins in Athens wearing vintage Dior heels and a mini dress, but then again, not everyone is Rosalía. While exploring Greece, the Spanish artist opted for a mini dress in this summer's top shade, a bright tomato red, and paired it with Dior heels from the iconic 2004 Rasta collection. We may not be copying the combo for our own exploring this summer, but we definitely won't be forgetting anytime soon.
