If You're Wearing One of These 8 Shoe Trends, I Know You're a Fashion Girl

As a self-proclaimed fashion girl who loves shoes, I find the following subject an easy one for me to speak to. I'm one of those annoying people who can't help but look at a person's shoes when I meet or greet them. They can say a lot about them and will immediately tell me if the person is sporty, appreciates comfort, watches the weather, and/or pays attention to fashion.

As a fashion editor, it's my job to have an acute knowledge of the latest trends—shoes included. So if I spot one of these latest and greatest shoe trends on someone in the wild (or the wild that is Instagram), I know they're following fashion to some degree, perhaps even by reading Who What Wear (shameless plug). I compiled eight specific shoe trends that prove your fashion-girl street cred at this very moment, and if that's something you want more of, keep scrolling to shop them for yourself.

This Y2K shoe trend is one of the biggest shoe trends of spring/summer 2021, so if you're a fashion girl (or have at least been shopping lately), this is probably on your radar.

Clogs have officially been resurrected, and fashion girls are embracing the '70s vibe that they give to an outfit.

The retro-sneaker trend is still reigning supreme, so when I see a pair, it's safe to assume I've found a sneaker-loving fashion girl.

When you see a pair of very cool, very fancy shoes that have some element of sparkle, they're probably Amina Muaddi shoes. As a testament to their popularity, every time they're restocked, they sell out again.

Bubblegum pink is the It color of the season, and it's made its way to fashion girls' feet.

You no longer have to wait for a rainy day to bust out the wellies. Fashion girls are wearing them on even the sunniest of days.

Sculptural heels are the "weird" shoe trend that will start plenty of conversations and earn many compliments. I love that they add an interesting element to even the most basic of outfits.

Chunky loafers (especially when paired with crew socks) became quite popular in the fall and still feel fresh. Wear them with anything from miniskirts to denim.
