Lorde has taken to social media to tease her forthcoming album, again. However, she's still keen on keeping major details to herself.

On April 9, the Pure Heroine singer deleted every post from her Instagram and website, signaling a new era. Simultaneously, she shared a new TikTok featuring her on a stroll with a decked out carabiner. "Since I was 17, I gave you everything," she belted as she stomped through New York City. "Now we wake from a dream, well baby, what was that? / What was that?"

Little did fans know, their favorite (who usually makes an appearance every four years) was getting ready for her next cameo. As TODAY shared, the New Zealand singer posted "in the park" on her story, encouraging fans to visit Manhattan's Washington Square Park for a meet.

However, the event was cancelled by police before she arrived. She later apologized on her story. "Omg @thepark the cops are shutting us down... I am truly Amazed by how many of you showed up!!! But they're telling me you gotta disperse... I'm so sorry."

Thankfully, she shared a new offering to make up for it: "What Was That" the single and music video. Fans in the comments section are already in love with the track. "That little string flourish in the back is just SUBLIME and one of my favorite parts of this song. God, so much cool stuff happening in the production here, she's so back" one fan wrote.

Since its release on April 23, 2025, "What Was That lyrics" has risen to the top of Google Trends.

The upcoming project will be her fourth studio album. In 2023, she revealed why her album is taking time to perfect. "It has taken me quite a while [to start working on it]," she told Ensemble magazine. "I mean, I do just take a long time … I do a lot of research, I write a lot down."

"Sort of a big chunk of work before I actually start writing music," she continued. "So yeah, that's been a really big part of it. It's been super exciting and I feel excited about what’s coming."

Ironically, each of her albums has been released four years apart from each other. "You know, it's my intention, it's always my intention, to move as quickly as I f-cking can and then that ends up taking different forms," she added. "But this one, I really am trying to. I don’t want to wait, you know, so take from that what you will."

Stay tuned for the album's release date.

In other news, Cardi B makes a cameo in You.
