1017 ALYX 9SM Focuses on Basics for Co-Ed FW21 Collection

With his ongoing gig at Givenchy and collaboration with Nike, Matthew Williams decided to return to the early days of his designing career for 1017 ALYX 9SM's Fall/Winter 2021 collection. The lineup comes filled with some of the label's signature details, including silver hardware, structured silhouettes and more.

"ALYX always keeps evolving the same silhouette and the same materials. The hardware is consistent. It’s a stripping-back to where we began, and defining those codes again, and making them more consistent and solid," the designer explained the collection in a conversation with Vogue. "Because we weren’t doing a show, we wanted to reduce it down to exactly what was needed."

The resulting co-ed designs are filled with versatile and simple silhouettes with standout color accents. Outerwear pieces such as coats and jackets are dressed in blue and red hues, while a backless dress comes in a pastel blue shade. The outfit is accompanied by red mules for added contrast. Elsewhere, a red padded coat is worn atop a set of a sky blue shirt and trousers.

Keeping true to the brand's DNA, accessories are highlighted with ALYX's signature buckles on backpack straps and handbag clasps, as well as necklaces. The pieces are styled with straight-fitted pants, ribbed knit dresses and pantsuits, while a silver sequin dress takes the spotlight.
