ORIGINAL STORY (November 2, 2020): While the second season of zombie K-drama Kingdom was left with a cliffhanger, Netflix has now confirmed that it will be releasing a special episode, titled Ashin of the North, to address a mysterious figure in the story. The role is played by Gianna Jun, otherwise known as Jun Jihyun.

Since its inception in early 2019, Kingdom has become a favorite amongst Netflix viewers. The series, set during the Joseon Dynasty, stars Ju Jihoon as Prince Lee Chang, who aims to investigate a mysterious plague that haunts the country. The second installment of the show saw a dramatic ending with Jun making a brief appearance in the final scene, hinting at her association with the "resurrection plant" that sparked the outbreak.

In addition to Jun, Netflix has confirmed that Park Byungeun, who plays Min Chi Rok, will also be featured in the spin-off episode.
