The first trailer for HALSTON is here, and it looks wild. The upcoming Netflix series, produced by Ryan Murphy, sees Ewan McGregor star as Roy Halston Frowick, the legendary American designer who rose to fame in the '70s for his minimalist yet glamorous ready-to-wear.

Arguably the first American celebrity fashion designer, Halston dressed icons including Iman, Bianca Jagger and Liza Minnelli. He was frequently photographed with the stars at Studio 54, bolstering his image and influence. The creative also battled a cocaine addiction, a commonplace drug during the reign of disco. "Halston thrived on it," fashion editor André Leon Talley wrote of the stimulant in his memoirThe Chiffon Trenches. "He was known to partake and afterward stay up and change a whole collection overnight. Presto: a masterpiece."

HALSTON documents the designer's highs and lows, telling the story of his rise and eventual fall. "Do you ever feel like everything you have could disappear in an instant?" McGregor delivers at the trailer's chilling close. Also set to appear in the series are Rebecca Dylan, playing fellow designer Elsa Peretti, Krysta Rodriguez as Liza Minnelli and Vera Farmiga as a character named Adele.

HALSTON hits Netflix on May 14.
