Andreas Kronthaler presented Fall/Winter 2024 for Vivienne Westwood at Paris Fashion Week this season, taking things back to the duo's first shared passion of fashion history. Revisiting silhouettes of the past, the collection aimed to explore the very purpose of making clothing, interrogating how clothes should make you feel and where inspiration can be found.

Looking at late Renaissance costumes, sports gear and historical dress as an amalgamation of influence, FW24 takes elements of each and revisits them through the distinctive lens of Westwood. Models like Kristen McMenamy walked the runway, alongside artist Sam Smith, who had multiple costume changes, showcasing traditional-looking silhouettes in vibrant colors.

Draped dresses featured backless (and bum-less) silhouettes, while structured jackets and billowing trousers arrived in a slew of intentionally mismatched materials. Westwood's signature platform boots made a triumphant return, this time telling stories of the past. After all, "a tradition is kept alive only by something being added to it," according to Henry James, who features in this season's show notes.
