"Auntie Wang's Matchmaking" Is Genius AF

Dating trends are evolving as Gen Z and Millennial women proudly ditch dating apps. Up next? Matchmaking services.

Chinese women are changing everything we hate about dating from lack of directness -- to batting far out of your league. At Auntie Wang's Matchmaking, currently located at a tourist attraction in Kaifeng, China’s central Henan, the girlies gather to find the "One."

So how exactly does the matchmaking service work? As the South China Morning Post wrote, women step up on Auntie Wang's platform and "openly share their requirements in a partner, prompting interested men who met the criteria to step forward." After finding her match, they connect via WeChat, Chinese instant messaging platform. Auntie Wang also provides some elderly advice for the potential beaus.

For some cultures, the practice may remove the allure of dating: romance. But it clearly works as Auntie Wang's Matchmaking has gained quite the following on social media -- and at the event, "some even climb trees to get a better view."

A similar effect has been witnessed in the United States as women are ditching dating apps, too. Except, instead of opting for matchmaking at tourist attractions, community-hosted speed dating sessions are their cup of tea. These events are niche and catered to different types of lovers from queer baes to gamers and more.

Looks like dating apps are in their flop era.
