For women into sneakers, UK-based collective Sneaker Sisterhood has grown to become an important pillar of the diverse footwear scene. Championing female collectors, creatives, and industry experts, its aim is to create an inclusive community where women can nurture their love for kicks without judgment.

This year, founders Giulia, Ja'e and Juelz celebrate the collective’s fifth anniversary. Marking a milestone moment for the trio as well as its burgeoning community, the group teamed up with Converse last month to host an intimate workshop event in London. Coming together at the Offspring store in Kings Cross, the anniversary event soon became a sentimental affair as its original community members reunited at the place where they had regularly met for sneaker pick-ups.

For the first half of the event, the two-floor store was shut down and the central area was cleared for a craft masterclass with creative Kat from Kats Korner Studio. Using the new Converse De Luxe silhouette as the canvas for their designs, guests were taught how to customize the shoe with handmade tufted accessories. From multicolored patches to fluffy detachable keychains, the hands-on workshop aimed to inspire its community to take up customization and bring an expressive flair to their kicks.

Following the crafts session, the shop floor was transformed with DJ decks and a bar, and doors were opened to the wider public. Continuing to celebrate the anniversary, UK Bass DJ Saint Ludo was invited to play a special set throughout the night which guests enjoyed as they explored the store’s latest sneakers and took snaps of their custom creations.
