A Digital STD Scanner Just Dropped — Here’s Why You Need It

Men's wellness brand HeHealth forays into women's sexual wellness, with a genius sex tech innovation.

In case you didn't know, women are notoriously more likely to get tested for STIs than their male counterparts. Whether you're in the world of research or educated by life as a woman, it's clear that male counterparts are often averse to getting tested for STIs. I mean we've all heard excuses like "I'm clean" -- and that doesn't even take into consideration how many men hate condoms because they "can't c-m" with them.

To help women practice safe sexual wellness, HeHealth launched its very own STD Mobile Scanner priced at $10 USD. It's anonymous and accessible, a growing issue as Congress tightens laws for women and queer people. You can now screen directly from your phone and "from there, are connected directly to a Doctor for telehealth treatment advice or in person for a visit," HeHealth shared. "With this launch, women are empowered to take their sexual well-being into their own hands," shared the brand. "No more trusting the guy you’ve known for 24 hours to open up about their potential STDs or last screening — a conversation that, despite its importance, is often avoided altogether."

With prompts asking for consent and an easy-to-use interface, the STD Mobile Scanner is already hype-worthy as the launch coincides with worrisome national STD rates. In April of 2023, Planned Parenthood's Dr. Sara C. Flowers released a statement highlighting the lack of access to care amidst growing STD rates.

"The newly released STI data from the CDC makes clear the immediate need for improved access to sex education, and STI testing and treatment. Despite the overall decrease in STI reporting in 2020 due to COVID-19, STI cases are on the rise and continue to increase disproportionately in communities that face the greatest systemic barriers to education, safer sex tools and STI testing and treatment — including young people, especially those who are Black, Hispanic, and American Indian/Alaska Native.

Now, HeHealth's newest launch makes STD testing safe and accessible for those with mobile devices. A win for national sexual wellness.
