Hinge's in-house dating expert, Moe Ari Brown, dives into the dating apps Gen Z Date Report with a gem on making it official.

We've all heard of situationships and the three-month rule -- if you haven't by now where TF have you been? Essentially, the three month rule is that point in the relationship where you either continue to build intimacy and opt for exclusivity or ditch the dynamic. If you're approaching that three-month point, or let's be real, are past it, you may be wondering how to make it official.. without scaring them away.

According to Hinge's expert Brown, "There isn’t a wrong time for vulnerability." Someone who truly wants and values you will be open to your vulnerability. "Any time is the right time to communicate your feelings," he said. "Communication is a cornerstone of a great relationship foundation. The degree to which you share should depend upon the relationship's stage. For instance, you might not say 'I love you' on a first date, but you’d say something like 'I like you and want to keep getting to know you better.' I invite you to feel empowered to always share your feelings."

Here’s how to fine-tune your communication around your feelings.

Keep reading for expert advice on how to fine-tune your communication around your feelings, from Moe Ari Brown.

1. Use "I" statements followed by a feeling word. For example, "I really admire you and I am looking forward to our dates," or "I feel enamored. I can’t wait to call you later."

2. "Be honest with yourself. If you like a person, worry about rejection could prevent you from even feeling the interest you have in the other person. You have to be honest with yourself before you can be honest with them."

3. "Decide which medium of communication you want to use. You can choose to do it via video, text, voice message, in-person, etc."
