Simple and Stylish: Key Items for the Minimalist in 2024

Natalie Cantell  Fri, 29 Dec 2023  Who What Wear

My love of extremely chill fashion is showing no signs of slowing down. As I begin to think about where my wardrobe is heading, the purchases I’m most interested in are best described as quietly cool—relevant and forward but not quite trendy, more like seasonal updates for those always-on classic styles.

For the year ahead, I’m mainly looking to reinvest in some of my most-loved items of this year, doubling down on chic and easy accessories, wide-leg trousers, flat footwear, and a slew of other items that have had the most wear. As for the new things piquing my interest, they still center minimalism: clean lines, strong neutral pieces, basics that definitely aren't boring. I want even my most low-key buys to have a point of view, and these 37 pared-back styles all fit the bill—on top of that, they look expensive and are sure to go the distance in 2024.

A great sweater.

You really need to click in to understand how this chic bag transforms into a different shape.

The Frankie Shop's outerwear remains elite.

This is so luxe.

The subtle pleats add polish to these jeans.

Proof that low-key doesn't mean boring.

Effortlessly chic.

This leather shopper is here to make your commute a bit cooler.

It's definitely not too late to get in on the slingback trend.

A flawless shirt for an impeccable half-tuck.

A collared knit is the perfect combo of cozy and polished.

Easy jeans you'll be wearing into spring.

I'm a sucker for Toteme, and this blazer is at the top of my wish list.

Speaking of Toteme.

Okay last one, but I'm telling everyone to buy this belt.

The perfect slouch.

The minimalist cool kids in Australia love this local brand.

A Fair Isle knit I can get on board with.

Every editor's current favorite earrings.

Excuse me with this color.

Just a slightly squared toe to feel a little more modern.

Not your average long-sleeve tee.

Loewe's more low-key eyewear styles are making minimalists very happy.

And these obviously need no introduction.

Retro sneakers, with just a nod to the red trend that's definitely sticking around a while longer.

This polished style is having a moment.

Simple yet on-trend.

These come in sizes 0 to 18, as well as a full range at a petite length.

More stripes, for the Parisian wannabes among us.

Tie belt optional.

It's just not a minimalist-style roundup without something from Jil Sander.

No words for how soft this sweater is.

Okay, this one you can see the soft.

Tory Burch's loafers deserve more attention.

A great hue to mix in with your neutral palette.

I have this sweater in black but really considering the brown.
