Obsessed Is an Understatement: 20 New Items We Bought and Loved

Anna LaPlaca  Mon, 24 Jul 2023  Who What Wear

Is anyone in need of some shopping inspiration? Well, nobody asked, but I'm certainly delivering anyway. With a dizzying number of new pieces hitting the market, it can be downright intimidating to peruse what's out there in the hopes of making a little wardrobe update. But that's where I come in, friends. On a typical day, I do some online browsing to highlight the very best shopping picks of the moment, so today, I'm taking it a step further by showing you what we're personally adding to our closets and including some inspirational outfit photos.

There's no doubt our editors are a stylish bunch. (I look to their Instagrams for my own style ideas.) So when I tell you these new tops, dresses, shoes, and bags are it, I think you'll agree. Keep scrolling for the new fashion favorites we added to our closets in July—from the prettiest drop-waist dress I can't stop wearing to Natalie's cool Reformation jeans and Sierra's chic beach coverup. These are spring's top-notch picks, according to us.

I can't tell you how comfortable—or cool—these sleek wedges are. I'm obsessed with the cutout heel shape that adds a touch of interest to even a simple outfit. They're made from the most buttery soft leather so they're as much of a dream to wear as they look.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that my DMs are filled with inquiries whenever I wear this easy tube dress (which is often). Drop-waist dresses are having a moment this summer, and while I may be biased, I think this easy Free People number is the perfect way to tap into the ballerina-inspired silhouette.

I'm not normally one to buy multiples of an item, but the shape and fit of Paris Georgia's Heart Tank are so superb that I simply had to have it in this chic black-and-white iteration on top of the other color I already own, so as soon as I saw it in the SSENSE sale, I didn't think twice about ordering.

"From the pointelle knit to the midi silhouette, there are so many details I love about this Sandro dress. I just ordered it but already know it will be the perfect piece to wear for a range of occasions from work events to dinner with friends."

"I've been fully embracing the baggy denim trend and I think I just found my new favorite pair. The Skater Baggy High Rise from Ref fits perfectly at the waist while still having a loose fit in the legs. For reference I'm usually a size 30, but for these I sized down to a 29."

"I had been contemplating investing in a $250 pair of ballet flats similar to these, but once I laid my eyes on this $70 option my mind was made up. They're cute, comfortable, and go with so many different outfits in my summer wardrobe. Now I think I need them in black too."

"I was looking for a sheer coverup to wear on my most recent vacation and as soon as I landed on the Monday Swim website, I knew I was going to find what I was looking for. This dress is coming on every trip with me from now on, it couldn’t be more perfect for a luxe beach day."

"The rosette trend isn’t slowing down meaning these shoes will be completely gone soon so you’ll want to act fast. They’re basically begging for compliments and make every outfit a winner."

"I mean, you really can't beat the price on this one. It also comes in white and blue, so take your pick or buy all three. (I did the latter.)"

"I really just can't stop obsessing over the rosette details on this little 'kini." Shop the matching Rose '90s Bottoms ($140)

"I’m simply in love with this romantic ruffled blouse. I’ll be copying this look and styling it with an A-line midi skirt. The best part? It’s currently on major sale."

"My running shoes were in desperate need of replacement, so I settled on these beauties from Adidas. I love the cheerful color combo that’s so much more fun than my black sneakers. There’s just something about new gear that makes me extra motivated to work out."

"Strapless dresses that accentuate the waist are having a major moment right now. I scored this highly-rated one from Nordstrom for under $100—and I can't tell you how many compliments I get when I wear it. It's easy to dress up or down with heels or ballet flats."

"Linen vests are my go-to piece this summer—easy to wear with jeans and relaxed trousers. While I own several white and beige iterations, I've been loving this dusty pink hue from Express."

"I'm on a white dress kick—can you tell? This time it's this House of CB mini dress with a lovely back bow. I usually don't wear pieces this coquette-ish, but as soon as I saw the dress all over my feed, I knew I had to add it to my summer arsenal."

"I was recently invited to an all-white party so I ran to the mecca of trends for something to wear (yes, Zara). I landed on this one-shoulder mini dress from its new collection and it was the perfect choice. The tie details take this up from being something too simple or basic, and the dress is shockingly comfortable."

"Free People dresses have not been missing this summer and this one is currently on sale for $50. I immediately fell in love with the interesting neckline and ruched cotton fabric. I wore it to the office on this day but I'd style the dress with heels for dinner or worn over a bikini for a beach day too."

"Every summer, without fail, Free People makes at least one dress that becomes my favorite item of the summer; I have a feeling this dress will be that for me this year. At first, I was apprehensive about how functional a pink dress would be, but I gave it a try (in hindsight, I'm so grateful I did). Not only is the color so fun, but the silhouette is the perfect balance of functional and sultry—the length makes it a little more modest, while the deep V-neck and adjustable straps are spicier. It's such a flattering dress that I've found myself re-wearing it for various occasions (e.g., a short getaway from the city and even the Barbie movie premiere), and I am cooking up more ways to style it."

"As someone that owns quite a few pieces from Jacquemus, I feel that the French fashion houses' jewelry collection is severely underrated—the pieces are always well-made and eclectic. I'm always looking for new items from the brand to buy, so when chunky chokers began bubbling up this summer as a trend, I knew I had to have this "J" initial necklace. It's such a fun item to spice up everyday staples and adds the perfect amount of whimsy to everyday life."

"Just when I thought I couldn't love Reformation more, I got this knit top. First off, the photos do not do this top justice! The contrasting white rosette is so pretty, especially paired with the off-the-shoulder neckline, and the fit is so flattering on. I love that you can pair this top with just about any type of bottom for any occasion!"
