5 High-Quality Denim Brands That Look Designer But Cost Under-$200

Allyson Payer  Wed, 09 Aug 2023  Who What Wear

While I'm a big fan of Khaite and Toteme jeans, filling my closet with these $300-500 pairs would be a costly endeavor, so I balance things out with more affordable denim. And honestly, I've found that my jeans from the more affordable brands are some of the most worn in my closet.

I've tried more affordable denim brands in my life than I have the time to list, but I will say that not all are created equal, as I'm sure you know. I've tried plenty of duds, but none of them have been from the brands I'm here to talk about today, all of which offer the bulk (or all) of their denim collections for under-$200.

There's a good chance you're already familiar with these popular brands I'm highlighting, but if you're like me, you have denim on the brain again with fall approaching. Therefore, I'm just offering up a little reminder that these brands excel at affordable jeans, and I chose the best current pairs to shop. Scroll to do so.

Just like everything Reformation makes, its jeans definitely get the "cool girl" stamp of approval. It offers both classic and forward styles that reflect the latest denim trends, so there's truly something for everyone.

They had me at "stretch".

These have quickly become one of Reformation's most popular styles.

The cut-off waistband makes these especially cool.

Love this subtle take on the barrel-leg trend.

These look chic styled with heels.

I'm starting to see cuffed jeans everywhere again.

The hype about Madewell denim is real—trust me. I started wearing it probably a decade ago. Whether you're going for comfort, a vintage look, trendier styles, or the basics, you're likely to find it among Madewell's denim selection. (Bonus: Its size range is one of the best on the market.)

Madewell's Perfect Vintage Jeans are practically legendary at this point.

A great choice if you're finally ready to dip a toe into low-rise.

Many of Madewell's jeans come in different inseam lengths, these included.

A great option for the office.

If you haven't tried & Other Stories' denim yet, I can say from experience that you're missing out. Most pairs are under $100 and the quality is shockingly good. If you prefer "quiet luxury" denim, this is the brand for you, as its styles are devoid of labels.

The slight taper makes these feel particularly forward.

This cream pair is ridiculously chic.

I'm very tempted to add this cool, slouchy pair to my cart.

These are a great modern take on skinny jeans.

This waist-buckle detail is fun.

They're giving French girl.

Another very popular, very well-priced denim brand is Everlane. The unique thing about Everlane is that it offers many of its styles in varying lengths. Take a look at the glowing reviews if you need convincing about the fit and quality of its denim range.

The baggy jeans trend is sticking around.

The 2023 version of bootcut jeans is slouchy bootcut jeans.

I'm going to need these this fall.

I love the vintage look of these (and that they come in two lengths).

The amount of favorable reviews for these is kind of mind-blowing.

You can't go wrong with this staple straight-leg style.

COS's variety of denim styles isn't massive, but you'll find that subtle takes on all of the essential trends during a given season are represented, and in a variety of washes.

Tapered jeans is the most polished denim trend of the year.

So chic (and I love the styling).

It doesn't get more classic than these.

I can see why this cool pair is selling out.

Another excellent tapered option.

These look ridiculously comfortable.
