To accompany the styles presented on Y/Project's Fall/Winter 2021 digital runway, Glenn Martens has teamed up with Brazilian heritage label Melissa on a pair of mules. The unexpected shoe marks the first of the collaborative project, which will see an additional footwear style release in the coming months.

"The disruptive quality of Y/Project's brand and design is Melissa's greatest motivator in this new collaboration, given our history and devotion to innovating and setting trends since our first-ever collab with Jean Paul Gaultier in 1982," says the footwear brand, which is famous for its comfy "jelly" shoes. "Every step of the creation of the product, including its Rococo inspiration, showcases Melissa's three pillars of art, fashion and design... Finally, Y/Project's commitment to sustainability highlights the synergy between the two brands."

The low-heeled court shoe boasts a glass-like texture influenced by the Rococo period. Available in clear and translucent black iterations, the design is complete with a pointy toe. "This eco-friendly collaboration reflects a girl’s dream to wear a crystal shoe but with all the comfort Melissa is renowned for," Martens comments on the style.

In addition to the court shoe, Y/Project and Melissa will be unveiling collaborative Persian rug slides in the near future. Both footwear options will release in May, with the mules priced at $250 USD and beach slippers at $98 USD.
