JW Anderson Debuts First-Ever Sneaker

After years of successful sneaker collaborations, British label JW Anderson has unveiled its first in-house silhouette.

The new shoe is constructed of high-quality leather and canvas in both vibrant and monochrome hues that leaves it with a striking look. A thick rubber sole forms the base – a nod to the JW Anderson stacked brogue that debuted in the brand's early years. As for colorways, offerings include: green, orange, purple, white on white, black on black, white and gum, and brown and gum iterations.

The minimal-yet-bold design is emblematic of the brand's aesthetic, seeing a deconstructed rawness combined with exaggerated proportions and vivid tones. "At JW Anderson we have always looked at this idea of deconstruction and blowing up proportions," said Jonathan Anderson, Founder and Creative Director of the label. “I wanted to keep them as color-blocked as possible: like they were just dipped into vats or these vibrant colors. Really over saturated." When asked about his inspiration for the sneaker, Jonathan explained, "I was thinking about a primitive form of craft where leather meets canvas. I like how the rough stitching implies the hand of the maker. I think that balances out the more technical side of trainer design. I like that these feel rough and rawer."
