The Disabled Community Is Unhappy With Nike's Hands-Free GO FlyEase Sneaker

Back in February, Nike launched a new sneaker silhouette dubbed the GO FlyEase – an innovative design that can be worn and taken off without using your hands. Upon its release, the shoe received much attention for contributing to the Swoosh brand's accessibility efforts. However, resellers have been defeating the purpose by putting the $120 USD sneaker on the market for as high as $2,000 USD.

Social media user Louie took to TikTok to point out that sneakers like the GO FlyEase should be accessible for all. "This shoe itself has been so hyped up and praised for its inclusiveness and its accessibility for people like myself with a disability," he begins. "It's someone with a disability that actually needs the shoe," he adds, pointing out the high resale price that people with disabilities would have to pay to get their hands on a pair. "Talk about accessibility, am I right?"

Louie further commented that Nike should take responsibility for the inaccessibility of the shoe as much as resellers. He shared in another video: "Nike could do more and could do better if they actually want the shoe to be accessible for people with disabilities. But they’re making money either way, so why would they care?"

Nike has yet to respond to the criticism surrounding the GO FlyEase.
