Continuing its sustainability efforts, adidas has now revealed the latest iteration of its Stan Smiths that are made out of mushrooms. The concept shoe is built with Mylo, an eco-friendly and renewable alternative to leather.

The new material, created in partnership with biotechnology company Bolt Threads, is more specifically constructed with mycelium, the underground roots of mushrooms. Taking two weeks to grow, it serves as an efficient option to help save the Earth. "The introduction of Mylo as a new material is a major step forward in our bold ambition to help end plastic waste. As a planet, we must learn to work with nature rather than against it and put all our efforts into finding innovative solutions that are created responsibly with resources that renew at a sustainable pace," Amy Jones Vaterlaus, Global Head of Future at adidas, shares in a press release.

The sneaker boasts a minimalist design overall, with a cream ivory upper sporting Stan Smith's perforated Three Stripes down the laterals. The silhouette dons its signature branding stamped onto the tongue, while a natural rubber midsole adds contrast.

adidas has yet to announce any official release details for the Stan Smith Mylo, but stay tuned for updates via the brand's website.
