7 Basics That Are Trends Without Being "Trendy"

We live in a time in which basics aren't always just the same old basics. Sure, there are the staples like white T-shirts, black leggings, straight-leg jeans, etc., and then there are the basics trends.

The nice thing about basics trends (as opposed to straight-up trends) is that they're versatile and subtle and they tend to stick around for awhile. But something that's important to note about basics trends—and that sets them apart from other trends—is they're not "trendy". Incorporating them into your wardrobe shouldn't be a big deal. They're just effortless items that easily freshen up your outfits.

There are actually quite a few basics trends percolating right now, and I'm here to talk about the most popular, easy-to-wear ones. From everyone's go-to accessory of the season to a few shirt styles that are going to be everywhere by spring—it's time to get these on your radar if they aren't already. Scroll on for the 411 and to shop the chicest styles for each trend.

Oversize V-neck sweaters are everywhere you look right now. The most fashion-girl way to wear one is layered over a white crewneck T-shirt, as displayed here.

It's been a minute since inky dark-wash denim was a thing but it's officially back.

Polo shirts were all over the runways of Miu Miu, Gucci, and Loewe for S/S 24 and we should all prepare for them to be a major trend this season.

The easiest way to spot a fashion girl is to search for the ones wearing loafers with socks. Trust me—it won't take long to find one.

Hoodies are hoodies, but they're also a fashion thing again. Isn't it fun to wear something you wear all the time and accidentally be on-trend?

If you haven't added a sleek leather belt to your wardrobe recently, the time to do so is now. It's the best finishing touch to an outfit I can think of.

Move over oversized button-downs—it's time to make way for fitted ones. This trend looks particularly great with baggy pants and jeans.
