The US Lifts COVID-19 International Travel Ban

The U.S. lifted its COVID-19 ban on international travelers starting on Monday.

Though U.S. borders have now been reopened for more than 30 countries, inbound non-citizens will need to show proof of vaccination as well as a negative COVID-19 test taken at least three days before entering the U.S. So far, all children under the age of 18 and unvaccinated Americans are the only ones exempt from this requirement, as long as they take a COVID-19 test one day prior to traveling.

The lift on travel restrictions seems to be a step in the right direction. “Monday begins in earnest the return of international travel, when long-separated families and friends can safely reunite, travelers can explore this amazing country, and the U.S. is able to reconnect with the global community,” said Roger Dow, President and CEO, U.S. Travel Association, as reported by The New York Times. “It is a monumental day for travelers, for the communities and businesses that rely on international visitation, and for the U.S. economy overall."
