Following a months-long trial, Elizabeth Holmes, the former CEO of Theranos, was convicted of consumer fraud and conspiracy. A court filing confirmed that she will be sentenced on September 26.

As reported by NPR, Holmes will be punished for four charges tied to her company Theranos, with which she convinced investors that it would be able to detect serious health conditions such as cancer with a few drops of blood.

The 37-year-old, once referred to as the "next Steve Jobs," faces up to 20 years in federal prison, although legal experts expect the judge to give a less severe punishment. According to former federal prosecutor Amanda Kramer, the judge will be taking into account factors such as the investors' loss amount and Holmes' efforts at rehabilitating.

Holmes will remain free up until September 26 on a $500,00 USD bond. She is reportedly residing at a $135 million USD Silicon Valley estate with her partner Billy Evans, with whom she recently had a son.
