Apple is set to introduce a brand new feature that will allow you to integrate your driver’s license and state ID to its Wallet app on your iPhone or Apple Watch.

"We are excited that the TSA and so many states are already on board to help bring this to life for travelers across the country using only their iPhone and Apple Watch," said Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet, in a statement. "We are already in discussions with many more states as we’re working to offer this nationwide in the future."

States such as Arizona and Georgia will have access to the feature first, followed by Connecticut, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Oklahoma and Utah. All you have to do is click the + icon in the app, and you will be instructed to scan your license or ID card. For verification purposes, you'll also have to take a selfie, "which will be securely provided to the issuing state."

As Bailey mentioned, the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) will be one of the firsts to accept licenses and IDs via the Apple Wallet -- specifically at select TSA airport security checkpoints and lanes. To respect user privacy, Apple has ensured that its customers' "identity data is encrypted and protected against tampering and theft."
