YouTube Removes Dislike Counter on Videos

YouTube is testing a new design that hides the public dislike count on videos. The move is an attempt to discourage targeted "dislike mobs" against certain creators and content.

"Viewer feedback is an important part of YouTube, but we've heard from creators that the current experience can negatively impact their wellbeing," the video platform wrote on Twitter. "We also know that public dislike counts sometimes motivate targeted campaigns of dislikes on some videos." Though the number of dislikes on certain videos will be hidden from public view, creators will still be able to see their exact number of likes and dislikes in YouTube Studio. The experimental change will be applied to select videos in the coming weeks.

Head to YouTube's official Twitter for a preview of the new design.
