Apple has announced a range of new software features aimed at enhancing accessibility for individuals with diverse needs. The company worked closely with community groups to develop these tools, catering to users across the disability spectrum.

Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized their commitment to creating technology that is inclusive and accessible for everyone. The new features include Live Speech, which allows users to type messages during phone calls or FaceTime conversations and have them spoken out loud. Users can also save frequently used phrases for quick access.

Another feature is Personal Voice, a synthesized voice designed for individuals who have difficulty speaking or are unable to speak for extended periods, such as those with ALS. To create a personalized voice, users undergo a training process where they read random text prompts and an AI generates a synthetic version of their voice. Live Speech can then utilize this synthesized voice to read text messages in the user's own voice.

Apple assures users that their voices are stored securely on their devices and their privacy is protected. These new accessibility features reflect the company's ongoing commitment to inclusive technology, empowering individuals to communicate, create and engage in the activities they love.

In other tech news, Twitter officially has a new CEO and it's a woman.
