UPDATE (August 20, 2021): Lorde has finally released her Solar Power album. This marks her first full-length effort in four years.

"The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors," Lorde commented on the concept of her new record in the press release. "In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learned to breathe out and tune in. This is what came through."

Produced by Melodrama collaborator Jack Antonoff, the 12-track project focuses solely on the New Zealand songstress's sound with no collaborations. In celebration of Solar Power's release, Lorde will present it in a first-of-its-kind, disc-less format: an eco-conscious Music Box. "I decided early on in the process of making this album that I also wanted to create an environmentally kind, forward-thinking alternative to the CD," Lorde shared. "I wanted this Music Box product to be similar in size, shape and price to a CD, to live alongside it in a retail environment, but be something which stands apart and that’s committed to the evolving nature of a modern album."

You can now stream Solar Power via Spotify and Apple Music below.

UPDATE (June 22, 2021): Following her first single of the year, Lorde has finally revealed the release date of her third studio album, Solar Power.

The Grammy Award-winning multiplatinum artist's project, produced by Melodrama collaborator Jack Antonoff, includes 12 tracks. "The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors," Lorde shared in a press release. "In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learned to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through."

In addition, Lorde will debut Solar Power in a "first-of-its-kind, disc-less format" – an eco-conscious Music Box as an alternative to a CD. It will come with extra visual content, handwritten notes, exclusive photos and a download card. UPDATE (June 10, 2021): Following much anticipation, Lorde has surprise-dropped her latest single titled "Solar Power." The track arrives alongside a sunkissed music video set on the beach.

The release comes after the New Zealand singer shared with fans that she was working on something new. "I started going back to the studio in December, just for something to do, and to my surprise, good things came out," she wrote in a newsletter.

In the latest track, Lorde sings in a stunning yellow two-piece: "Forget all the tears you’ve cried/It’s over/It's a new state of mind." She dances on the beach, as she continues: "The girls are dancing in the sand/And I throw my cellular device in the water/Can you reach me?/No, you can't."
