EXCLUSIVE: Emilia Dedicates Emotional Song to Her Father in New Music Video for "Guerrero"

Emilia Mernes shows off her vulnerable side in a new music video for "Guerrero."

The emotional track is a tribute to the singer's father regarding his battle against cancer. "Gurerro" stands out for a number of reasons -- it's heartbreaking, raw and beautifully honest all at once. Additionally, it's different compared to Emilia's previous music, which is more uplifting and urban-sounding.

"The biggest challenge in my life has been when my dad got diagnosed with cancer," she exclusively tells Hypebae about the story she tells in the song. "It was something that made me mature very quickly and made me understand what is truly important in life."

Emilia also penned a message to fans about "the most vulnerable song" she's ever written. "I had to go to the darkest places of my life to be able to tell it all," she captioned a teaser clip on Instagram. "I chose to give them to you. Thank you to my dad for inspiring me every day for being the strongest person I know, my warrior... I admire you for fighting like no one in this life and winning your battle. I hope you like this song that goes from the bottom of my soul, that accompanies and heals a little the heart of all the people who are going through a war, I love you."
