Daft Punk, which unexpectedly announced their split back in 2021, is back with new music.

Before you get too excited, the release doesn't mean that they are reuniting. In celebration of the 10th anniversary of their Grammy Award-winning final album Random Access Memories, the electronic music duo is set to return with an expanded edition with nine never-before-seen tracks over a course of 35 minutes. The musicians unveiled the first number off the list, "The Writing Fragments of Time."

As explained in a press release, the song is a "documentary track that nods back to the RAM album track 'Giorgio by Moroder,' in which the iconic Giorgio Moroder discusses his own creative process and come up." The 8 minutes and 25-second-long clip captures the moments between Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter and collaborator Todd Edwards as they write "Fragments of Time," which was created within a day. Throughout the track, you'll hear the producers bouncing ideas off one another, testing out different lyrics for the song.

"The Writing Fragments of Time" arrives ahead of the release of Random Access Memories 10th Anniversary Edition, which is slated to officially launch on May 12.

Following their split, Daft Punk took to Twitch last year, streaming a rare 1997 live set while releasing a deluxe edition of Homework.
