Shakira Breaks Spotify Record for Most Monthly Listeners by a Latin Artist

Shakira is strategically using her heartbreak for success. The Colombian singer has made Spotify history for breaking the record for the most monthly listeners by a Latin artist, also making her the first Latin female artist to achieve this.
Of the milestone, she tweeted, "I feel humbled and grateful though I’m only one among millions of women out there who have so much to say and offer. Women of all races, ages and conditions. Thanks for your loyalty and support."
She currently has over 68 million monthly listeners; as a result, she's surpassed the previous record-holder -- Bad Bunny.
Her recent increase in listeners could be thanks to her buzzy diss track with DJ Bizarrap titled "BZRP Music Session #53." The song is said to be about her ex Gerard Piqué, who reportedly cheated on her.
In the track, she throws a few jabs at the athlete, singing, "I wish you good luck with my supposed replacement/ I don’t even know what happened to you. You are so strange that I can’t even distinguish you/ I’m worth two of 22 [year-old]/ You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo/ You traded a Rolex for a Casio."
The song became such a success, it also broke a YouTube record. It garnered 63 million views in its debut day, becoming the most-viewed Latin music video in 24 hours.
