Starbucks Japan Introduces Color-Changing Cups

Starbucks Japan is launching a drinkware collection of color-changing cups. The coffee chain will donate 10 percent of proceeds from the rainbow offerings to non-profit ReBit, a Japanese initiative that promotes diversity education in high schools through classes on inclusion and LGBTQ+ issues.

The cups arrive in four base shades -- yellow, pink, blue and green -- that change color depending on temperature and light exposure, similar to a mood ring. The vessels can hold both hot and cold drinks, and are emblazoned with Starbucks' instantly recognizable logo. Each cup is packaged in a special carrying bag that comes with a sticker reading "NO FILTER," a nod to freedom of self-expression.

Starbucks' color-changing cups retail for ¥2,860 JPY (approximately $26 USD) and launch at the Starbucks Japan website on April 18.
