Like many others, I've taken up hiking as a hobby during the pandemic thanks to its socially distanced nature. Just when I was looking for the perfect shoes to wear on my outdoor adventures, I saw that Nike was bringing back a pair of hiking-inspired boots dubbed the Lahar Low from its archives. As a small treat to myself, I got my hands on the "Grain" iteration of the shoe that dropped earlier this summer for my weekend morning walks.

Continue reading to learn more about the women's exclusive Lahar Low and why it has become one of my favorites this season.

THE SHOE: Nike Lahar Low "Grain"

OUR REVIEW: When I first spotted the Lahar Low, I instantly knew I wanted a pair for a few reasons. I love that the shoes are inspired by Nike's Lahar Escape Boot released back in 1989. The Swoosh brand has incorporated just the right amount of hiking-inspired details in the design, while adding a rugged midsole to the silhouette for a chunky yet modern look. I also appreciate the fact that the boot doesn't overtly look like a Nike shoe, as it sports a small embroidered Swoosh that gives it a minimalist feel. With a mix of easy-to-style beige tones, this specific colorway "Grain" makes a versatile shoe ideal for both hiking and everyday wear.

After wearing the Lahar Low a few times with casual outfits, I decided to take these on a morning hike and was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they were. The shoe may seem stiff and hard to wear at first glance, but there's just enough cushioning to make sure that your feet won't feel tired after an hours-long walk. On the way back down, the outsole felt sturdy and had a firm grip, allowing me to walk comfortably despite the ground being damp from rain the day prior.

For those looking to grab a pair, I would recommend going half a size up and wear the low-cut boot with hiking socks. If you purchase your regular size, you might end up feeling pain around the toes.

VERDICT: COP

BUY: The Lahar Low "Grain" retails for $130 USD on Nike's website.
