Grimes and Elon Musk Have "Semi-Separated"

Grimes and Elon Musk have split after three years of dating, according to Page Six.

The billionaire Tesla and and SpaceX founder confirmed the breakup in an interview, stating that him and the Canadian musician are "semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms." He added that they intend to continue co-parenting their one-year-old son, X Æ A-Xii.

"It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA," Musk told the outlet. "She’s staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room."

The pair were first romantically linked in 2018, and welcomed their child in May 2020. The two were last seen together at the Met Gala earlier this month, although Grimes was the only one who walked the red carpet. Coincidentally, it was at the same event in 2018 when Musk and Grimes first publicly revealed their relationship.

Grimes has not yet commented on the split. In a recent video published by Vogue, however, the "Oblivion" singer opened about motherhood and how it has inspired her creatively. "I think having a baby was a big, kind of like, rebirth for me, like artistically," Grimes, whose birth name is Claire Elise Boucher, said in the clip. "Being a mother feels weird to say for some reason. I don’t, like, identify with that word -- which is also really weird because X, he says 'Claire,' but he doesn’t say 'mama.' ... Maybe he can sense my distaste for the word 'mother.'"
