TikTok star Addison Rae is facing backlash after announcing her new gig as a UFC correspondent, which has since been canceled.

Last Friday, the influencer took to Instagram to tease her partnership with the UFC, shortly following up with a tweet that reads, "I studied broadcast journalism in college for three whole months to prepare for this moment." According to Distractify, the 20-year-old attended sports broadcasting classes at Louisiana State University.

Following the news, the public began calling out the star for "stealing jobs from those more deserving," as written by one social media user. Another commented: "I went to journalism school for two years and interned (unpaid) for another 1.5 years after that. Never got hired on and had to switch careers. Thank you for this info." One person added that "this is disrespectful to all the people who go to college and work their asses off for jobs like this and sometimes don’t even get them but because Addison has clout, she gets them over QUALIFIED sports journalists." Rae tweeted hours later: "nvm y'all got me fired."

On Saturday, the influencer covered a preliminary event for UFC 264, where she spoke with Dustin Poirier. Some of her followers showed support, stating that she "truly deserved [the] spot with all the hard work [she] put in." Watch a snippet of the interview below.
