Whistleblower Luis "Lue" Elizondo, who says he ran the Pentagon's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), alleged that the government is working to cover up the existence of UFOs. As the Pentagon prepares to make some of its findings on "unidentified aerial phenomena" (UAP) public, Elizondo shared a series of new revelations on our extraterrestrial friends with the New York Post.

According to Elizondo, officials are unwilling to recognize the existence of UFOs for religious reasons. "Some individuals have a problem with this topic because it interferes with their philosophical or maybe theological belief system," he said, adding that he was told to stop investigating UFOs by one senior official who asked if he had read a Bible recently.

Elizondo is a former intelligence officer for the Department of Defense. A report published in 2020 by The New York Times identified him as the director of the AATIP, but in 2019, Pentagon spokesman Christopher Sherwood released the following statement to The Intercept: "Mr. Elizondo had no responsibilities with regard to the AATIP." Setting the record straight, NBC correspondent Gadi Schwartz obtained confirmation from former U.S. senator Harry Reid that Elizondo was indeed involved in the program.
