In a recent interview, Harry Styles opened up about his mental health and how going to therapy has helped him feel "more alive."

Speaking to Better Homes & Gardens, the musician -- who started therapy five years ago -- shared that he had misconceptions about it and used to think that it "meant that you were broken." He said: " I wanted to be the one who could say I didn't need it." He continued: "I think that accepting living, being happy, hurting in the extremes, that is the most alive you can be. Losing it crying, losing it laughing -- there's no way, I don't think, to feel more alive than that."

He further explained that the pandemic allowed him to take a step back and slow down, focusing more on his mental health. Some of the conversations he has had with his therapist include the desire to be "likable," often worrying about "saying the wrong thing" in interviews. He also revealed that he has had conversations about intimacy and dating in recent sessions. "For a long time, it felt like the only thing that was mine was my sex life. I felt so ashamed about it, ashamed at the idea of people even knowing that I was having sex, let alone who with... At the time, there were still the kiss-and-tell things. Working out who I could trust was stressful... But I think I got to a place where I was like, why do I feel ashamed? I'm a 26-year-old man who's single; it's like, yes, I have sex."
