This $320 USD French Hairbrush Wants To Replace Your Dry Shampoo

As a oily hair girl, I'm always looking for beauty solutions to extend the time I can get out of my wash day. I've tried it all — putting my hair up, dry shampoo, a cleanse — you name it, I've done it. To my surprise, I've recently noticed a new method on TikTok and it involves throwing down a bit of a bag to forgo grease — getting an expensive, boar bristle hairbrush.

Luxury haircare brand Altesse Studio sells and markets all kinds of these brushes to consumers who wish to repair their hair issues, but how does this product actually work? Boar bristles made of keratin are fibrous, composed of cuticles that act like scales, grabbing oil from the top of the head and moving it down throughout the hair, nourishing the drier strands on your head. The brush also massages and stimulates growth on the scalp.

How long does it take to replace your dry shampoo in your haircare routine? Depending on your hair length, it will take three to six weeks of brushing (for mid-length to long hair) to shampoo one day later than before. The brand actually recommends using their "100 Stroke Method," where you divide the head into fourths and brush 25 times in each direction for the most benefits.

"The first two weeks, you will find your hair greasier, this is normal and a good sign. This means natural oils have started descending on your hair shaft and will soon reach your ends. This will balance the production of sebum, leaving your scalp and roots cleaner and your ends nourished," said Julia Tissot-Gaillard, CEO of Altesse Studio and Fournival Altesse, in a press statement.

The Altesse Studio Hairbrush retails for $320 USD is now available on the brand's website and at Bloomingdale's.
